Produce Nnamdi Kanu or risk jail sentence court tells Senator Abaribe

Image
The Federal high court, Abuja, has asked Senator Enyinaya Abaribe and two others to produce leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in court for the next hearing of his treason case on June 26th 2018 or face jail term. Recall that Abaribe, Immanuel El-Shalom, a Jewish high priest, and Tochukwu Uchendu, a chartered accountant, stood surety for Kanu when he was granted bail on April 27th last year after spending over a year in detention. Kanu has however gone underground after the military invasion of his home in Abia state in September last year. At the resumed hearing of Kanu's treason case yesterday March 28th, Justice Binta Nyako told counsel to the senator and the two others to either produce Kanu in court during the next hearing or forfeit their N100 million bail bond issued when he was grnted bail or go to jail.  Kanu is facing a four-count amended charge preferred against him and four others, whose trial had since been separated from his. Ab

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Sunny Onuesoke, has said the All Progressives Congress will collapse before the 2019 general elections. Onuesoke dared the ruling party to conduct a national convention to elect new executives. This was contained in a statement on Wednesday in his reaction to the call by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, for the deregistration of the PDP. Onuesoke said, “I am not surprised that such a call is coming from the now infamous Minister of Information, whose name is now synonymous with propaganda. The APC as a party is currently grasping for breath, the only thing keeping them going, is the single fact that they are still the unfortunate ruling party. “I assure you that before the 2019 elections, the APC as a party, will collapse. This may come as a surprise to you but the signals are already there. “There is no denying the fact that the ruling party is divided alon

Antonio Conte hails Lionel Messi as 'the best in the world' after Chelsea's defeat to Barcelona

Image
Antonio Conte hailed Lionel Messi as the "best in the world" after he inspired Barcelona to a 4-1 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the last-16 of the Champions League. Messi was the star of the show at the Nou Camp, punishing Chelsea as Barca advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals for the 11th successive season with a 3-0 win on the night at the Nou Camp. After eight appearances without a goal against Chelsea, Messi settled this tie by scoring the equaliser in last month's first leg and two goals here, either side of Ousmane Dembele's first Barca goal, for a 4-1 aggregate success. And Conte was quick to compliment the Argentine forward, whose second strike was his 100th in the Champions League. "When you have the opportunity to make a great compliment to Messi, it is right," Conte said. "It is right to recognise a super super super top player. "He is able to score 60 goals every season. I am very pleased to have had the op

The 33-year-old has spent his entire career at Barcelona, but admitted a switch is a possibility after returning from a hamstring injury in  Wednesday night's 3-0 win over Chelsea at the Nou Camp. "Before April 30 I have to make the decision whether I'm still in Barcelona or I'm going to China. I have to assess what is best for me and for the club," he said. "It is a decision that I will communicate to the club first and then you will find out. I will make a decision before April 30. "It will be the most honest for me and for the club." Barcelona head coach  Ernesto Valverde admitted he is unsure  whether Iniesta will stay at Barcelona. Alexis Sanchez does not deserve to be in Manchester United team, says Charlie Nicholas

Image
Charlie Nicholas says the arrival of Alexis Sanchez has spoiled Manchester United's system and he must be dropped following their Champions League exit. Jose Mourinho's side lost 2-1 at home to Sevilla on Tuesday evening  to exit the Champions League at the last-16 stage, meaning the FA Cup is now their only realistic chance of a trophy this season. Sanchez joined from Arsenal in January, but gave the ball away on 20 occasions in the game, and Soccer Special pundit Nicholas believes his arrival has had a negative impact on Mourinho's formation. He said: "At the start of the season, Manchester United had a fluency to them. Paul Pogba played high up with Jesse Lingard behind him and Romelu Lukaku on his game. "All of a sudden Sanchez comes, Marcus Rashford gets dropped out and Anthony Martial gets moved over. All of a sudden the whole team is getting squeezed to fit Sanchez in. "Sanchez, at the moment, does not deserve to be in the team. It

Iran Coach, Carlos Queiroz - 'Lionel Messi should be banned until FIFA proves he’s human’

Image
Iranian national team Coach,  Carlos Queiroz  wants  Lionel Messi  banned from football reason been that he’s too good at it. Queiroz insists the Argentine magician should be suspended by  FIFA  until he can prove he is not an extra-terrestrial!  The former Real Madrid coach remembers all too well how Messi broke Iranian hearts with a stunning stoppage time winner for argentina during the group stages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. And ahead of the 2018 World Cup where Iran have been drawn alongside heavyweights Spain and Portugal, Queiroz told Fifa.com:   “I’ve always said that Messi is an extraordinary player. He’s out of this world. If he were human, he wouldn’t have had that magical moment in that match. I don’t usually like losing, but I didn’t come away from that defeat with a negative feeling.  It’s when something magical like that happens that you know that football is alive and kicking. And that’s why it’s one of the best sports in the world to watch.
